Employment Specialist
Employoment Specialist Summary
Employment Specialists provide and arrange job development, job coaching, vocational assessments and other services for people with disabilities. They identify, oversee and provides long term support services relevant to employment.
Employment Specialists work with a team of people, potentially including Vocational Rehabilitation, local businesses and other supporting team members, to find the best possible employment for each person they work with.
Physical Demands of the Job
- Sit, stand, stoop, lift moderate weights
- Some climbing and/or balancing, kneeling, crouching, significant finger dexterity
- Push or pull (wheelchairs, transfers, etc)
- Perform CPR
Requirements for Employment
- Minimum of High School diploma or GED
- Minimum of two years college or three years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
- Valid drivers license, ability to pass agency driver's training, and insurable under agency insurance policies.
- Must be able to work flexible hours dependent upon current needs of individuals receive job coaching services.
Extensive training is provided to new employees to enable them to do the best work possible.
