September Shooting Star Award Winner
Aspire is proud to recognize Sue Wente as our September Shooting Star Award Winner!
Each month Aspire collects outstanding employee recognition called Shooting Star nominations. These are voted upon and awarded at our monthly staff meeting.
All of the monthly award winners are voted upon each year to select our yearly Shooting Star Award winner.
A gentleman who recently started services with Aspire and who has had some behavioral challenges tested positive for covid. He is a very active person and therefore it was suspected he would not stay in a designated area without someone present at all times. Sue donned full PPE and stayed in the designated room with him. We called mom to inform and request she pick him up however we were not able to reach mom and the minutes turned to hours. Attempting to keep him occupied, including some time outside, would certainly require patience. Whenever I would come to touch base with Sue I could hear behind the closed door her politely reminding him of appropriate behavior and redirecting him to another task.
After we were able to reach his family and they came to pick him up, Sue still had a positive attitude about the entire situation and recognized that she was in the room with him because she had built a good rapport with him since starting services. Thank you Sue for being so self-less and caring. This definitely was not an easy task and your willingness to assist went above and beyond – and was definitely noticed!
