May Shooting Star Award Winner

Aspire is proud to recognize Tara Usselman as our May Shooting Star Award Winner!

shootingstar may2020 tarauEach month Aspire collects outstanding employee recognition called Shooting Star nominations.  These are voted upon and awarded at our monthly staff meeting.  All of the monthly award winners are voted upon each year to select our yearly Shooting Star Award winner.

We would like to recognize Tara for all she did for a gentleman with declining health. She assisted him to multiple appointments and ER visits and advocated for him. When it was decided that hospice services were appropriate she assisted him to the appointment and supported him and his sister through the process.

She worked that weekend with him and stayed in constant contact with nursing. She made sure that the next shift was well informed. At the end of her 12-hour shift, she returned to assist with medications as the staff were not as comfortable as she was assisting him. She realized he did not have much longer and volunteered to stay with him until he passed in order to keep him as comfortable as possible.

Thank you, Tarah, this is never an easy process but this is why we do what we do. Thank you for being there for him and for your fellow co-workers in this most difficult of times.

With so much happening in the world lately regarding covid it has affected the way we live in so many ways but Tara’s actions were a good reminder that it does not have to change the way one shows care and compassion.

~Nominated by Amber Locke, Community Living Supervisor and Angela Huffman, Director of Nursing
