January Shooting Star Award Winner 2024

Each month Aspire collects outstanding employee recognition called Shooting Star nominations.  These are voted upon and awarded at our monthly staff meeting.

All of the monthly award winners are voted upon each year to select our yearly Shooting Star Award winner.

shaun m and phillp h squareShaun has only been with Aspire since October as a Maintenance Assistant to Katie. In this short time, he has developed relationships with not only staff but also people supported and has quickly become a part of the family. At the beginning of January, 6 staff were scheduled to attend Ukeru training in Mitchell. Unfortunately, at the last minute, one of those staff members became ill and could not attend. Usually this would not be a big deal but since we had this employee registered, we had to pay for the spot which was not cheap. The crew was leaving at 1pm that day for travel. Due to Shaun’s background in behavior intervention, he was approached at about 9:30am to see if he could fill in. It took Shaun about 4 minutes to decide if he can make it work and without hesitation, said he would. He ran home and packed clothes, completed his important things at work and we hit the road. Regardless of Shaun’s background, this is completely out of his required job duties as a Maintenance Assistant and absolutely could have refused to attend! Thanks Shaun for being willing to drop everything last minute and being willing to better yourself for the sake of the agency even if it’s not in your job description. You are a team player and we are happy that you have joined our team!
